Known as one of the most ‘British’ areas in Victoria, Oak Bay is a charming seaside village renowned for its old world British charm, Victorian architecture, boutique shops, unique galleries and artisan creations. Located by the beautiful Haro Strait and home to some of the most expensive real estate and residences in Victoria, it is the perfect place for a leisurely seaside stroll. Boaters will also appreciate the Royal Victoria Yacht Club and Oak Bay Marina.
Private Golf Course Access
As a VIP of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, access tee times at two of Victoria’s most prestigious and exclusive private golf courses – the seaside Victoria Golf Club (the oldest golf club in Canada and one of the top courses in the county) and the challenging Uplands Golf Club. It will be our pleasure to arrange bookings and transportation for both you and your clubs through our concierge.
Victoria’s Inner Harbour
Victoria’s scenic Inner Harbour, four miles west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, is the city’s walkable downtown center. Visitors will find numerous attractions, activities, nightlife, restaurants and entertainment, including The Royal BC Museum, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Lower Johnson St. shopping district and the historic Bastion Square.
The Butchart Gardens, located just a half hour away from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, offer visitors an expansive, year-round garden experience. Almost a million people visit annually to take in the colours of the seasons, Saturday fireworks in the summer and the Magic of Christmas event. Open daily; the property houses themed spaces such as the Rose Garden, Sunken Garden and Japanese Garden, along with two restaurants and a coffee shop.
With three pods of Southern Resident Killer Whales, along with many Humpback Whales and a diverse array of marine wildlife calling our local waters home, guided whale watching and marine wildlife tours are a popular adventure option. Excursions and transportation can be arranged through our concierge at your convenience with options for the whole family available. You may even be lucky enough to start your whale watching adventure early, as whales are sometimes be spotted from the hotel.
Oak Bay Beaches
Enjoy beachcombing or relaxing in the sun at any one of the many beaches and bays within a short drive from the hotel. Willows Beach (located 3min away by car) is one of Victoria’s most popular swimming beaches with shallow, protected water suitable for young children or anyone wanting to catch some rays.
Located on a magnificent stretch of coastline, the Oak Bay Beach Hotel is ideally situated along one of the most scenic bike routes on Vancouver Island. Whether planning for a leisurely ride to local sites and attractions or a more aggressive pace and route, you have plenty of options. Did we mention our fleet of bicycles are primed and ready for your arrival?
Cast off on a fishing excursion from the nearby Oak Bay Marina or Downtown Victoria and experience the thrill of fishing. The waters off the coast of Oak Bay are home to some of the best salmon and halibut fishing (and crabbing) on southern Vancouver Island. Arranged for you at your convenience, fishing charters range from 5 to 8 hours for four people and include state-of-the-art boats, gear and rods.
Our more active guests will enjoy the opportunity to explore the neighbouring islands with a coastal kayak tour, discovery island hiking or kayaking excursion with our friends at Ocean River Adventures.
